Deakin's new partnership with TAL Insurance will support adviser’s education and training needs through the TAL Risk Academy.
TAL Life is Australia’s largest life insurer and provides training to financial advisers through the TAL Risk Academy.
The new Deakin agreement is designed to assist and support advisers with their education requirements, providing them with a more flexible and cost-effective education pathway to meeting their FASEA education requirements whilst enjoying a 15% discount on their Deakin tuition fees.
The agreement awards credit to advisers who have successfully completed three modules and assessment through the TAL Risk Academy which are moderated and accredited by Deakin. The credit is awarded for Deakin's Estate Planning and Risk Management Strategies unit (MAA700).
Advisers receiving this credit can fast-track completion of one of Deakin's FASEA approved postgraduate Financial Planning qualifications. Along with the 15% discount on course fees, this will save them significant time and money.
Director of Financial Planning at Deakin Business School, Marc Olynyk, says, 'The program was developed as a result of a close collaborative effort between the two organisations and it illustrates the focus that Deakin University has on working with industry to develop and deliver courses and training programs that meet the specific needs of the financial advice industry and the general community.'
TAL General Manager, Retail Distribution, Niall McConville, said 'Our partnership combines the learning resources of the TAL Risk Academy together with the academic expertise of Deakin University''s Financial Planning arm to give advisers a more flexible and cost-effective education pathway to meet their FASEA-education requirements and gain a qualification from one of Australia’s leading universities.'
How the TAL agreement works
Financial advisers successfully complete three units and assessment tasks through TAL Risk Academy and apply for entry to one of Deakin's FASEA-approved postgraduate Financial Planning courses (Master of Financial Planning or Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning).
Once accepted they apply for recognition of prior learning for their TAL Risk Academy units and credit will be awarded for the Estate Planning and Risk Management Strategies unit (MAA700).
