The fourth industrial revolution, also known as Industry 4.0, is affecting almost every industry worldwide. It represents a fundamental change in the way we live and relate to one another and is rapidly transforming business operations through smart technologies. Some of these technologies include AI, advanced automation and robotics and big data. Organisations embracing Industry 4.0 technologies are able to create an environment that allows sustainable growth, thus boosting their competitiveness; which in light of the COVID-19 pandemic is more critical than ever.

The panellists will discuss what Industry 4.0 mean for their relevant business including their adaptation of smart technologies in the pre/post COVID environment, addressing challenges and the future outlook.

Joe Benham Programme Manager: Benham Precision Engineering Ltd

After Graduating from the University of the West of England in 2012 it was clear to me that I wanted a career in manufacturing. Having undertaken a degree which was very much focused on finance and services, manufacturing was something that I hadn’t considered until the completion of my placement year, where I worked in a stainless steel processing facility. The key attraction of manufacturing was the ability to effect change and improve systems and processes. Working within the family precision engineering business, Benham Precision Engineering became the most attractive choice of career for me. Since joining the business, I have been able to gain experience in quality engineering, project management, supply chain management, HR and account and programme management. We are a leading supplier within our market, providing solutions for complex engineering requirements to support some of the biggest brands in the aerospace and defence sectors. Working with these businesses has helped develop my own capabilities whilst giving an insight into the latest and future technologies, to help position the business for the future.

Gabriella Preston- Phypers CEO Oscar Harrington

After graduating from Bournemouth University, my career started at J.P. Morgan. I knew when I started this journey that I wanted to work from back office to front office so that when I got to a senior management position I could make informed changes based on real-life experience. Between 2010 – 2017, I achieved exactly that and got promoted to VP of Sales. During this time I obtained a wealth of knowledge about my industry, operational processes, the power of data, relationship management, selling and politics. When life gets comfortable, I push myself outside my comfort zone. In October 2017, I handed in my notice and started a new journey into the world of start-ups. Very quickly I realised that something was missing, I wasn’t able to influence change. It was time to get in the driving seat. In 2020 I finally agreed to join the family business, after many years of being asked. This move changed my life. I am now the CEO of Oscar Harrington, which is a specialist recruitment firm dedicated to Autonomous Technology and Mobile Robotics. Our mission is to provide people with the tools to grow their dream companies and land their dream roles.
