Students in the Bachelor of Commerce (Finance major) at Deakin Business School are taking steps towards career success through preparation for the CFA Program
Deakin Business School has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. Its Bachelor of Commerce with a major in finance has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. This program positions students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.
Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Deakin’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, Deakin Business School is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.
Deakin’s Bachelor of Commerce develops a sought-after skill set built around three pillars relating to the everyday, practical challenges of modern businesses:
- financial understanding
- market knowledge
- personal and professional skills.
The Finance major provides a broad understanding of the structure and operations of financial markets in Australia, plus the theory and techniques underlying financial decision-making. Graduates are prepared for work as financial analysts and specialists in banking, funds management, insurance, international finance risk management and securities analysis.
Every commerce student at Deakin has access to work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities providing the platform to gain valuable work experience that counts as credit towards their degree.
