Industry Workshop: An expanding nexus > energy, environment and natural disasters

Environmental sustainability, energy sharing and disaster resilience are just some of the globally-important topics to be explored at a workshop hosted by Deakin Business School’s Centre for Energy, the Environment and Natural Disasters (CEEND).

The 15 November event will be held at Deakin Downtown in Melbourne’s CBD, with presentations from academic, industry and government experts including Dr Gillian Sparkes (Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability Victoria), Ms Lisa Wardlaw-Kelly (the Australian Bureau of Statistics), Ms Marilyne Crestias (Renewable Energy Insights) and Dr John Bates (Research Director, Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC).

CEEND works in close partnership with government and industry organisations to deliver high-quality, interdisciplinary and impactful research. CEEND’s Director Professor Mehmet Ulubasoglu says its work places DBS at the forefront of contemporary debates on energy, the environment and natural disasters.

‘We believe there’s a need – now more than ever – for holistic perspectives on high-priority, complex issues within energy and environment markets that have profound impacts on the socio-economic welfare of our global village.
