Tell us how you could achieve your Sustainable Development Goals and win a $200 VISA gift card.

Deakin Faculty of Business and Law students have the opportunity to be part of a competition that aims to raise awareness and understanding of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

 

The 17 SDGs are part of a new sustainable development agenda that was adopted in 2015 to end poverty and protect the planet. 

With a specific target to be achieved over the next 15 years, each goal requires the input of governments, the private sector, civil society and individuals.

According to Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs, the SDGs form a roadmap for global development efforts to 2030 and beyond. They hold 169 targets and each goal has a set of indicators to help measure progress.

Deakin Business School (DBS) embeds a minimum eight SDGs within the portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses by mapping their coverage in teaching and learning activities across core units. DBS is one of two Australian universities to be champions in the 18-19 cycle and one of 40 globally.

Participants will be required to develop an action plan to achieve one of the 17 SDGs (of their choosing) in a real world context. These plans (100-200 words) are to be submitted in writing via this form. Detailed explanations of the SDGs can be found here.    

The competition commences on Tuesday 27 February 2018 at 10.00 am AEST and closes on Friday 9 March 2018 at 4.00 pm AEST.

The top three ideas will each be awarded a $200 VISA gift card and the winning idea will be supported by the Faculty of Business and Law to implement action up to value of $2000.
