IPA Scholarships open professional pathways for Deakin students
Deakin accounting students now have a fantastic opportunity to become members of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) thanks to a Scholarship made available through the IPA-Deakin SME Research Centre.
The IPA will provide 100 Scholarships to Deakin University’s highest achieving students with an Accounting Major.
The Scholarship will entitle students to:
- Two years of full membership with the IPA paid in advance (valued at $500), and
- A career mentor and employability program in the final year of study.
Membership to the IPA provides highly valuable tools for study and career success and includes relevant support, technical updates and publications, professional development events, and training and networking opportunities.
In terms of membership, the IPA is one of the top 25 professional accounting bodies in the world with more than 35,000 members and students in over 80 countries. The IPA is a member of the International Federation of Accountants, the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board and the Confederation of Asia and Pacific Accountants. The IPA is renowned for its advocacy work on behalf of small business in Australia.
The IPA-Deakin SME Research Centre conducts multidisciplinary research on small and medium size private businesses and not-for-profit enterprises. It brings together practitioner insights with world-class research and focuses on areas such as sustainability, governance, small business regulation, self-managed superannuation funds and financial services. Through this partnership, the IPA and Deakin University developed the first ever Australian Small Business White Paper with many recommendations now being pursued by the Government.
