Join us for Professor Gul's inaugural public lecture.

In this lecture, Professor Gul will draw upon the works of Francis Fukuyama and theories of political economy to provide a conceptual framework that helps explain the role of Corporate Political Activities (CPA). Specifically, he will examine the impact of firms' political connections, corporate lobbying and political donations in influencing corporate finance, financial reporting and auditing. The discussion will include empirical evidence from Malaysia, US and Australia.

Prof Gul is the Alfred Deakin Professor of Accounting and Finance at Deakin University. He is a well recognized authority in the field of empirical accounting. Some of his achievements include his many published books on China’s socio economic reforms, auditing and corporate governance of East Asian Corporations.
