Do you have the next big idea?

"All you need is an interest in social enterprise and a drive to succeed!"

Deakin Business School (DBS) is excited to once again invite students from all Deakin schools and faculties to participate in the Big Idea competition in association with The Big Issue

A social enterprise planning competition between university students around Australia, participants will develop a concept and business plan that might become the next big idea, and potentially change the lives of thousands of disadvantaged Australians.

Associate Professor Annemieke Craig, Director, Work Integrated Learning, explains that we need more solutions to social problems.

‘Students who compete in The Big Idea have the opportunity to really think about these problems and come up with a solution. They work on solving this problem in a team-based environment.

‘You don’t need to have an idea to get started, creating and developing an idea is part of the process.  You just need an interest in social enterprise and a drive to succeed,’ she says.

Competitors will have unprecedented access to a series of lectures, workshops and online seminars, delivered by some of Australia's most influential leaders.

This combination of comprehensive guidance, advice and direction will ensure you are well placed to develop your big ideas into brilliant business plans tailored towards viable social enterprise.

Australia's longest standing and most significant social enterprise, The Big Issue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that develops solutions to help homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people to positively change their lives. So, if you're passionate about social enterprise, there's no better place to start than signing up for the Big Idea competition!
