"Develop your employability with real-world experiences."
Since 2009, Whitehorse City Council has collaborated with Deakin University to provide students with unique opportunities to develop work-ready skills within the local business community.
Hosted by Whitehorse Council's Business and Economic Development Unit, the program is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate business students from Deakin Burwood Campus who are looking to apply their knowledge in the local business environment.
Beginning in early July and finishing in September 2016, participants will work one day per week in a business located in the Whitehorse municipality. A number of businesses will participate, offering experience in a range of disciplines relevant to your degree.
To be eligible to undertake these unpaid internship opportunities:
- undergraduate students must enrol in MWL303 Business Internship
- postgraduate students should be eligible to enrol in MWL702 Business Practicum
- You must contact a student adviser at buslaw@deakin.edu.au to ensure that this elective unit fits into your study plan and request a signed course map.
To receive a certificate of completion, participants must attend four compulsory workshops and a pre-placement briefing as well as their weekly placement requirements. Placements are expected to be undertaken on Wednesdays, however this is subject to final negotiations with the business involved.
To apply for the Whitehorse Tertiary Business Skills Program 2016, submit your expression of interest along with your resume and a signed course map provided by a student adviser. Please note that lodging an expression of interest is no guarantee of selection or participation in the program.
