New society puts economics in the spotlight

Make the most of your time at Deakin University!

The recently formed Deakin Economics Society (DES) aims to meet the specific needs of economics students at Deakin University.

Its objective is  to enhance members’ university experience and inform members of the many professional and academic opportunities available to them.

DES plans to meet these goals by running a bi-annual careers event, giving members the opportunity to explore the various graduate and further study options available to economics students.

These events will also give students the opportunity to speak to those Deakin Business School alumni who are using their economics majors to work across a variety of public and private sector organisations.

Members of DES will have the chance to discuss and explore various economic and econometric theories, and current economic issues. They will also provide ample time to network with fellow economics students.

DES is open for all students to join, from economics majors, to those hoping to learn more about economics.

DES’s next event is a BBQ and movie night, showing Freakonomics, Wednesday 9 September from 4.30 pm in LB2.308 (Melbourne Buwood Campus).
