Deakin – Rajasthan Royals Vice-Chancellor Scholarship winners

Cricket icon Rahul Dravid awards the prestigious scholarships in Pune, India.

Two students have been announced as recipients of the Deakin – Rajasthan Royals Vice-Chancellor Scholarship – aimed at strengthening Deakin's unique partnership with the Rajasthan Royals.

Cricket icon and Rajasthan Royals mentor, Rahul Dravid awarded the prestigious scholarships at a special event in Pune, India, recently.

Shahbaz Waraich from Amritsar and Shifa Shaikh from Ahmedabad, were selected winners from a very competitive pool of candidates, based on their academic merit and achievements in leadership and sports.

Part of a gala event to celebrate the unique partnership between Deakin University and the Rajasthan Royals, the scholarship ceremony was a time to recognise the talents of students wishing to pursue studies with Deakin.  

Guests included the Australian Investment Commissioner (AusTrade), Kylie Bell, CEO of Rajasthan Royals, Raghu Iyer, senior representatives of Rajasthan Royals and team members including Rahul Dravid, Steve Smith, Sanju Samson James Faulkner and Ajinkya Rahane, as well as academic representatives.

The prestigious scholarship will provide the winners a 50% waiver of course fees while studying at Deakin University.

Deakin is the first University in Australia to offer integrated business degrees in sport management and is currently ranked 3rd in the world by Sport Business International and is the only Australian program to make the top 25 globally.
