Academics from Deakin University and the University of Western Sydney (UWS) have been named the winners of the 2015 Financial Planning Education Council (FPEC) Academic Research Grants, which are sponsored by the FPA.
The winning submissions each receive $5,000 in grants to support the research they are doing in the financial planning sector.
The successful submission from Deakin University is a project titled: 'The costs, benefits and trade-offs associated with professionalising the Australian financial planning industry.’ The project is led by Dr Adrian Raftery.
The UWS project is led by Sharon Taylor and is titled: ‘Can a link be established between ultimate success in the CFP® Certification Program and any specific demographic factor of the participant?’
'I am delighted to see that there are now four research projects that have been supported by the FPEC Academic Research Grants,' said FPA chief executive officer, Mark Rantall. 'They are evidence of a genuine partnership between academia and the profession.'
A call for submissions for the 2016 grants will occur in May 2015. To be eligible for a grant, a higher education provider must currently be offering an FPEC-approved degree.
